Design your own Art Project
Baylee Beals
AHS Freshman
At the beginning of the project I was doing a project with a few other people, but after they told me that I needed to find another project I felt hurt and just wanted a safe place to go. I started thinking of a new project that I could do. I only had a week left so I had to find something that I could do in a short amount of time. I decided to do a tree with flowers at the bottom and a sun behind the tree. The tree is showing safety, the flowers is to celebrate the coming of summer, and the sun is for when you are by the tree and just need a hug, the sun will hug you with its warm and joyful rays. I painted this landscape because I don't want anybody to feel alone again. I used House paint and a Canvas that I had leftover from previous projects, and even though it is not my best art piece it still has/tells the message I intended to portray.

Environmental Documentary Farm Runoff
When I started this project I had no idea what to do, I had never done anything like this before and I was both scared and stressed that I would not pass this project. So my partner and I decided we would try our best to get it done as soon as possible so we would have extra time to refine, so to get our idea for the film we talked to the Junior chemistry teacher Steve Smith and he directed us towards the idea of Agricultural runoff. I found that knowing how to conduct a successful interview was a very helpful piece while doing this project, as well as knowing what kind of film shots we should do for interviews. This project taught me so much about what I might have to go through out of High School and since I did this project I feel more prepared for the real world.
Mini Project on Stop Motion Animation
-To make this project, my two partners and I got together and brainstormed. After brainstorming we decided that Sierra would be jumping and swimming in water. After we decided what we were going to do, we found a dark room and started our photo shoot. We took a total of 87 pictures, we then ran them through a batch in Photoshop, then we put them together in Adobe Flash.
-In my Environmental Documentary, I could use stop motion when recording something I could use stop motion instead of regular filming. For my Documentary I am doing it on Agricultural runoff in the animas river, I need to get footage of the river, and I can use stop motion to get that footage. |

Project reflection-
In this project I learned about how to hide a message in a logo. My logo spells out Lynn but if you didn't know that, it just looks like an X with 2 n's. For this project I will carry with me the fact that I know how to hide a message in a picture, and can draw just as well as on the computer. I don't like a lot of people knowing my middle name, I don't know why, but that's just what I've always done, so creating a logo for my middle name was kind of a big step for me, in getting comfortable in this new environment. I think that my personal connection to this project was just getting more comfortable in the school environment. |
Self-Portrait Project |
When doing a self-portrait, the artist pay's a little more attention to the little things, such as what feelings does this portrait portray what is the artist feeling, or what is the artist trying to show in this picture? Mine, is simple. It represents growth. Not academic growth, or growth in sports, but represents emotional growth. When I came to animas, I didn't know anybody, nor related to anything anybody said, I felt out of place, like I didn't belong. As time went by I become more comfortable with my new surroundings, and with who I was becoming. When people look at this picture I hope they see a girl disappearing in the shadows, but also sees a girl that is new and vibrant, and ready for everything that comes at her.

Teacher Creature
Project Reflection:
Steps: These twins set the main scene in my teacher creature, I photo shopped Libby's face onto there to make them look like Libby twins, and then I put Redrum on one dress and Murder on the other. I photo shopped Libby's face on to the Shining twins to make them look like Libby twins, also in the movie a little boy writes Redrum on a door, which is really Murder backwards.
Reflection: The reason why I choose Libby as my teacher for this project is because her answers to my questionnaire was quite interesting. I asked questions like, Whats your favorite color? and, Whats your favorite horror movie? Her favorite color is red and her favorite horror movie is the shining. Once I read her answers The idea for my Teacher Creature automatically popped into my head. That is how I got the idea for my Teacher Creature.

Landscape Project
In this project I learned that nothing is impossible in Photoshop, you can create any picture you want. I love how you can create different photos using your imagination. I also learned that no matter what your technology skill set is, you can do anything you want, as long as you put your mind to it. I have also found out that all you really need in photoshop is your understanding of art, and your imagination.
