Writing Goals
Goal #1: Grammar Usage
My goal is to get better at detecting grammar errors in my writing. I don’t have any examples in my writing because I have an app called Grammarly that corrects all of my errors for me and helps my writing a lot. But I want to be able to go through writing a paragraph and not have any corrections. But one thing I do know is that I use commas a lot, so I want to learn when it is appropriate for commas and when it is not. I am thinking about doing research on exactly why a comma is used and look at some reading examples of how a comma is used and where.
Goal #2: Organization
Okay, so I have always had trouble with organizing my thoughts. I understand what I need to write about and I do my best to cover all of my topics that I want to cover, but I am so sporadic with all of my ideas it is hard to follow my thought process. If you have read my in-class essay you can tell how jumbled my thoughts are. One way that will help me get better at this is laying out an outline before I start writing. An outline that starts plain and simple,
I have a lot of humor, or I like to think I do and I like when I accidentally put some of my humor into my writing because it tends to make my writing a little more engaging. If you know my humor you probably have an idea of how I might write some humor about a serious topic. I try to be serious but depending on the subject I sometimes have to incorporate some humor into the writing so I don’t go completely insane. The only problem I have is putting my humor into the writing and making, make sense. One way that I might get better at this is talking to Ashley about the humor that I want to put into my essay and then having her help me with mixing it into my writing.
