Semester #1 Pol 32Q
- 3 things to celebrate
- Even though I had some up and downs with my grades I was able to keep an A in all of my classes for the semester.
- Last year I had bad grades, and my bad grades caused me to fight with my dad a lot and it always made me feel like crap because I wasn't the straight A student that my dad wanted me to be. So at the beginning of the year I made a goal to have A’s in all of my classes. I had troubles at first because in the beginning I was still having troubles understanding math and therefore I had a D, but I talked to my teacher about what I could to get my grade raised and I got raised to an A. Having A’s is important to me because in all of school years I struggled to keep good grades, and so ow when I see that I have A’s, I feel like I am turning over a new leaf and it makes me feel more successful. So I have had my ups and downs with my grades but I completed my goal to have A’s in all of my classes, for this semester. And in the end I feel like a new and smarter person.

- I found a few people that I don't know what I would do without them, they have become my best friends.
- Last year I wasn't really outgoing like I am now so I didn't have very many good friends then, but this year I have put myself out there more and I now have more friends than I could ever ask for. They accept me for who I am and do not judge me. My friends have encouraged me to be myself while in school and at home. I seem to be a happier person and I seem to fight less with my parents. I have noticed that since I am happier I have a better attitude in the classroom, and since I have a better more positive attitude my grades are a lot better than when I had a negative attitude.

- I have developed a friendly and bubbly personality.
- I think my new personality has to do with my new friends, since they don’t judge me when I am my true self, I am more comfortable with who i really am so I am not afraid to show everybody I no longer see the point in hiding who I truly am so I show it all the time. I have learned that I should embrace my true self not be ashamed. And since my personality changed I am happier in school and at home, one thing that I have noticed since my personality change is that I fight less with my dad. Him and I used to butt heads all the time and now for some odd reason we get along better than ever, and since I don't fight as much with my dad anymore I am less stressed with school. I seem to be a better and much happier person this year, instead of being stressed, negative like last year.

- 2 things to work on
- Paying attention in class
- When I am in class I tend to get distracted easily. If people are whispering while the teacher is talking I will end up listening to them and not the teacher, same as if a person was clicking a pen, I will look at what’s happening and I’ll unpurposely tune everything else out, So I need to work on not paying attention to what other people are doing, and start paying more attention to what my teacher is doing. An example that shows how my grades are affected when I do not pay attention is the math checkpoint 1A I got 9 points out of 20 and that's only because I kept getting distracted in class and I did not pay attention to what I needed to, and my test score suffered. But I was able to retake the test and I was better focused the second time taking it and I got 17 points out of 20. So when I am better focused in the classroom and during a test my grades do not suffer because I understand the subject better.

- I also need to try and work on not procrastinating.
- I got my procrastination from my dad because I saw him do it and I just picked it up, and I have not pushed myself to get rid of it and even though not very many of my assignment grades have suffered because of my procrastination, my health has been struggling because of it and that is only because I am staying up late at night doing work, and not getting enough sleep. Something that has recently been affected by procrastination is my book report. When I was doing my book report I got lazy and so when I was doing my research I would read what the website said, and then I would think that I changed it around but really I just wrote a sentence that was very similar to what the website said, and I unpurposely plagiarized. I generally start procrastinating when I am assigned a big writing project and I have so many ideas going through my head that eventually my mind will just go blank, and when I go blank I start procrastinating, and then I get lazy and sometimes that can lead to trouble, like I get accused of plagiarism or I get a bad grade on it. I am going to try and work on getting rid of my procrastination by talking to my teachers when I start to go blank or get help from my peers.
